San Francisco Solano de Sonoma

 Today I woke up at 5:30 and got ready to be out the door at 6:30. Steven Woody picked me up and drove me to Sonoma. We met Mark Krahling there at 7am. After pictures, we started walking.  The walk was pleasant until we started on the busy road. Mark knew of quieter neighborhood directions that we walked, to stay off one of the roads. I think it added a bit of mileage, but it was worth it. After 5 miles Mark turned around and walked back to his car. I continued on. He picked me up after I hit the Petaluma city limits and drove me back to my hotel.

The Planning Starts

My original plan was to bicycle, with an e-bike, the California Missions Trail Walk. I delayed this plan with another idea of touring the Southwestern National Parks.  Then along came the idea of hiking the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail).  With starts and stops for both plans, my lofty goals didn't work.  I did get to see Grand Canyon National Park, but the other parks eluded me, due to no vacancy in hotels surrounding the parks. I next took the train to San Diego to hike the PCT.  I lasted three days until I decided camping and no showers were not for me.  I also had an intestinal problem that made going to the bathroom on the trail miserable.   The California Mission Walk is going to be my American Camino.  It's not set up the way the Camino de Santiago is in Spain.  There are no alberques and it is an unmarked trail.
